Stephen Mason - Lead Vocalist, Keyboard Born in Rochester, New York, but raised in South Florida, Stephen began his musical journey at a very young age. Singing since he was old enough to talk, he was introduced to his first keyboard (a Magnus chord organ) at the age of seven. Stephen took formal lessons beginning at age 10 for a period of five years. During that time, he participated in recitals, competitions and various musical programs as he refined both his keyboard and showmanship skills as well. High school bands, original bands and wedding/party bands were the next phase of Stephen's musical career. While living in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale area, he performed in numerous projects including top 40/rock, original and wedding band formats. He relocated to Hernando County in 2004 and has performed as a solo artist and with many different local bands in the area as well. Stephen has been as avid songwriter, composer and lyricist for more than 25 years, and is a member of both ASCAP and The Songwriter's Guild. With over 40 years of onstage experience, Stephen now adds his vocal and keyboard talents to a versatile group of top notch musicians – a band that is sure to get “Notist”!
Joe Wharton - Drums, Vocals Joe started playing parties with a much older group at the age of 12. His main instrument is the drums but is accomplished on the guitar, bass, and as a vocalist. Joe's versatility includes jazz, rock, funk, and the oldies. Joe enjoys writing music and songs and doing studio work with local groups. Joe is the leader and driving force behind Notist.
Tony Dema - Keyboard, Vocals Tony brings over 50 years experience to the group. Beginning at age 7, as most young Italian boys did, he began accordion lessons until age 17. He also played 1st chair clarinet in high school orchestra. Switching to the electric piano in the early 60's he played with the “Vibra-Tones” from 1961-65. Upon entering the Navy, he played in a group entertaining the troops off the coast of Vietnam. Tony has been playing with various groups in the Tampa Bay area since relocating from Chicago in 1979. While his love is “Classic Rock N' Roll” he enjoys playing all types of music.
Joe Lupiani - Lead Guitar and Vocalist Joe Lupiani hails from Rochester, New York and has been playing all types of music for over 40 years. He has played rock, jazz, funk, country, pop and blues. He also has a great talent for writing and arranging all styles of music. Live performing is one of his true passions and the excitement of the interaction with an audience inspires his playing.
Tony Fiorello – Bass Guitar Born and raised in NYC, Tony grew up totally hooked on the rock'n'roll and doo-wop of the 50s and early 60s. When attending art school in the mid-sixties and the British invasion had changed rock music, Tony decided that he had to be a part of it and took up the bass guitar. Bass had always been his favorite instrument and really admired its role of being the backbone of the music and allowing the rest of the band the freedom to perform at their best. After spending 3 days in 1969 watching and listening to all of the great bands at Woodstock…that was it! He knew that he had to be a bass player in a band. Tony started playing professionally in 1970 and eventually worked his way into playing in a couple of the top bands in the Northeast. A couple of his former band mates who did go on to great success are guitarists Ace Frehley and Johnny Gale. He also spent a few years backing many of the "oldies" acts such as The Drifters, Bo Diddley, The Belmonts, Danny & the Juniors, plus many more. Tony moved to Tampa in 1978 for family reasons, and after a break from music for a few years began playing again with a local band playing many of the top clubs and venues in this area in addition to weddings, parties and events.
