About Vendor

Learn more about this vendor for your event.

Expect the unexpected when it comes to the GoodFellers. Award winning bluegrass chops just don't tell the whole story. Their sound is shaped by different musical backgrounds, rock-flavored vocals and a genre bending set list. But it's more than that. These boys have fun when they play. It's infectious. With the voice of a leather jacket wearing angel, Teddy Barneycastle is a bluegrass singer in a class of his own. He started as a teen in rock and metal, leapt into bluegrass with the Nite Flyer band in the 90s. Teddy played with a variety of bands while living in Texas for several years, and formed the GoodFellers with Ralph McGee after returning to his North Carolina home. The incredible range and agility shown in his vocals carry the flavor of rock roots and Texas dust. Everybody wants banjo player Hersie McMillan in the band. An original member of the catalyzing Southbound, straight-up bluegrass speed and chops have made Hersey one of the most prodigious live and studio musicians in the region. His versatility has found a full-time home with the GoodFellers, but that doesn't stop other bands from picking up this picker at every opportunity. Not a lot of five year olds can even lift a bass, let alone start playing it, stick with it and make a career out it. David George is the exceptional exception to this rule. Making a name for himself as a multi-talent, David played electric and upright bass, mandolin, dobro, guitar, drums and vocals for the band Crossroad. With the GoodFellers he continues to entertain every time, his virtuosity matched by enthusiasm that hasn't faded in nearly a lifetime of playing. Born into bluegrass, mandolin player Ralph McGee caught the cool lick bug from Sam Bush in his early teens and never looked back. His style takes the best of the old and hurls it forward like a rock through a window. Always playing with some version of the McGee Family Band and an award-winning regular on the festival circuit, Ralph formed Nite Flyer in the 90s with a core group that would eventually become the GoodFellers.

WeddingReviewed on October 22, 2012From Siler City, NC

This band was amazing! They were very easy to work with, their timeliness was wonderful...and their musical quality was exceptional. They handled requests easily, and the rest of the time they seemed to know what to play and when to play it. We had 4 generations of family at the wedding/reception...and everyone has commented how much they loved the band. I would hire them again in an instant, and want to find public venues where I can go hear them again. My wife and I have nothing but praise for these guys!!! We thank them for making a special day even more so...

These guys did a great job at our Open House. I wish there had been a larger audience. 60 of the pre-registered attendees were a no show but these guys were awesome. I would book them for another gig in a heartbeat!

Fantastic. Dixie Broadway traveled about 4 hrs to play our outdoor country wedding. They're a bluegrass band, but they played classical music for our ceremony. Their rendition of Pachelbel's Canon was beautiful. They also played two requests that were more rock genre than folk music, one by Tom Petty, and one by The Killers. They both sounded great. They were all very nice guys, and we couldn't have been happier. We highly recommend them!
