Jazz Vocalist and Bassist, Nicole Saphos honed her skills at Temple University prior to emerging onto the DC jazz scene in 2012. The bold bass playing songstress has since established herself as a compelling performer, entertaining in regular gigs throughout the area as well as renowned venues such as The Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, Strathmore Mansion, and the The Kimmel Center. Drawing upon her unique collection of influences, ranging from Charles Mingus to Fiona Apple, Saphos couples a strong sense of musicality with her achingly nostalgic sound and inventively hypnotic and rhythmically driven arrangements.

Nicole Saphos was AMAZING. We hired her jazz trio (Nicole on bass&vocals, + drums + piano) for our woodsy outdoor ceremony and indoor cocktail hour. They set exactly the mood we wanted. In addition to being extremely talented musicians, they are highly professional and easy to work with - we met with Nicole ahead of time to discuss possible song ideas, then sent her a new idea for the recessional just a couple weeks before the wedding. Although it wasn't something they normally perform, she was easily able to do it - and sounded amazing. In short, they were a highlight of our wedding - our guests repeatedly told us how awesome they were. Hire them!

Nicole's trio was an exceptionally good addition to our party. They sounded fantastic, from classic jazz standards to Christmas songs to jazz-style renditions to pop covers. Nicole's voice is fantastic and musicianship is very, very high, but they were welcoming and even allowed my friends to sing along karaoke style to some holiday songs. I am hoping to hire them again in the future. Highly recommended!
