Our music ranges from Ellington to Bill Evans/Miles Davis/Sinatra. Pentimento musicians have played with Nancy Wilson, Mel Torme, Diana Ross, Claudia Valella, Jack Jones and many others. We've had long standing engagements with some of the Bay Area's best restaurants and wineries, including the Mountain Winery. We are also in demand for weddings and corporate events. "Pentimento" is an art term, meaning a painting or drawing that lies beneath a painting (as when they 'clean' a Rembrandt and find something underneath)--the structure beneath the final product--or that upon which the final painting is based. So too, in jazz--there are many layers of tradition and style upon which the final musical product is based: Caribbean, Black, Cajun, South American, etc. Pentimento Jazz musicians have played with the greats, studied with the best, and formed a product that is consistent, creative, and committed to the rhythms--and very reasons-- for the music. This is jazz the way it was meant to be. We are happy to add horns when the job calls for it--and vocals, when you want them are included.
