JUNK is a Jazz/Funk Fusion Throwdown that lays out a high-energy show for bars, clubs, dances, parties and special events. This group includes Sax, Trombone, Guitar, Keyboards, Bass and Drums. There's a new party emerging from the eclectic music scene in the Washington Metro area and JUNK! is leading the way. JUNK has gathered some of area's finest alternative Jazz, Funk and Rock musicians to form this new fusion group. While JUNK's roots lie in jazz, groove, and soul music, they step outside of the more traditional formats, blending diverse backgrounds to create funky, grooving music that is decidedly unique and captivating. The band shows just how well jazz, funk and rock can hit it off by combining the intensity and energy of the latter with the improvisations and harmonic complexity of the former. It's a blend with an unprecedented sound. JUNK! performs a mix of original material, re-mixes and cover songs from: Stevie Wonder, Bob Marley, Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Liquid Soul, Jamiroquai, Jimi Hendrix, Brand New Heavies, Action Figure Party, Nils Landgren's Funk Unit, Sly and the Family Stone, Cypress Hill ...and many classic Soul, Funk, Jazz and Blues tunes.
