Jazz guitarist and vocalist Doc Dosco has played, recorded with, or written songs for the likes of Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Anthony, The Drifters, The Diamonds, The Platters, The Coasters, Freddie Cannon, Wolfman Jack, Nina Hagen, Ian Whitcomb, Big Jay McNeely and with jazz greats such as Blue Mitchell, Eddie Harris, Red Halloway and Joe Albany.
Doc Dosco's music comes in several flavors. Doc plays solo guitar for light background music at small intimate events. He also plays a duo with upright bass and has a trio that includes guitar, bass and drums. He adds a sax player when needed. Doc sings a variety of standards and Latin songs (solo or with his band) in the style of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole. He also has several sets of pop and rock oldies if people want to dance. In addition, he has dozens of blues tunes in the style of Lou Rawls and B B King if people prefer that style of music.
Doc Dosco plays beautiful melodic jazz with a guitar style full of lush chords and octave melodies appropriate for any occasion where sophisticated music is required. With his vocals added, he can cover most any genre of music. Whether a casual or formal affair, a small backyard gathering or a big swank society bash at a Five Star Hotel, Doc Dosco's brand of 'classy live music' is a good choice for any function that requires great classic jazz and standards, either for background, cocktails, a wedding ceremony, dinner show or a concert.
Doc Dosco also works with Columbia/Barry recording artist Thelma Jones, and if a show with dazzling vocals is required, Thelma can provide it. Doc and Thelma perform as a duo in the tradition of Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass for small events or play bigger events with a full band.
What ever size band the client requires, Doc can supply. However, Doc is especially fond of playing with his trio and he accomplishes with a threesome what you would expect from a much larger ensemble.
Doc's core band consists of bass player Robert Williams and drummer Guy Hawke, both veteran LA professionals.
