Pianist and composer Brian Friedland is the perfect choice for anyone craving music more exciting and creative than your standard wedding jazz fare. Friedland gained valuable experience performing with some of the most respected names in jazz while earning has bachelor's degree in jazz performance at the University of Southern California. As a member of the school's flagship jazz band, the prestigous Thornton Jazz Orchestra, he backed legendary vocalists Harry Belafonte, Bobby McFerrin, Nancy Wilison, and Al Jearu, drum great Louie Bellson (drummer for Duke Ellington and Louie Armstrong), and world-famous trumpeter Wynton Marsalis. While attending USC, he studied with top Los Angeles' pianists Alan Pasqua (credits include recordings with Santana, Bob Dylan, Tony Willliams and composing the soundtrack for the Waterboy) and Shelly Berg (pianist for Patti Austin, former chair of the USC jazz department, composer of the 1988 Olympic theme).
Friedland's broad repertoire includes hundreds of jazz standards, bossa novas, blues, pop hits, and original compositions--all performed with an individual style that will breathe life into the most overplayed of 'wedding classics.'
