I am a classically-trained pianist available for all types of events requiring music, including weddings and parties. My repetoire ranges from Beethoven to Billy Joel to Frank Sinatra, and I can help you find the perfect music for your event. I have extensive experience in parties, weddings, funerals, and corporate functions, and can provide music suitable for all atmospheres. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Theory & Composition in 2001. After a two-year tenure as an employee of Indiana Wesleyan University, I spent a year on Cape Cod in Massachusetts while obtaining my Master's Degree in Business Management. I have recently relocated back to Brighton, Michigan, and am currently working on a Master's Degree in Musicology (music history) at Michigan State University. I started playing the piano in 1986 at the age of 6 years old, and have studied privately with Emma Jean Schmidt, Lidia Dobrowolskyj, and Dr. Carolyn Kindley. I also spent two summers studying at the Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan, under the direction of such noted professors as Dr. Andrew Hisey, Dr. Midori Koga, and Dr. Stephen Thomas. While early study was exclusively classical in nature, I discovered the joys of improvisation, popular music and jazz after accepting a position as pianist at the Brighton Wesleyan Church in 1995 at the age of 15. Since that time, I have had extensive experience in many areas of musical performance, including churches, Broadway-style musicals (including Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and The Music Man), weddings, parties, funerals, business grand openings, choral accompaniment, vocal accompaniment, instrumental accompaniment, jazz ensembles, and orchestra. Additionally, during the 1998-99 academic year and the summer of 1999, I had the opportunity to be a member of a touring music group through Indiana Wesleyan University. I have also composed works for various instrumentations, including string quartet, choral ensemble, wind ensemble, solo vocal, trumpet trio, and solo piano, including three CD recordings featuring original compositions. I can also provide male and/or female vocals if your function requires it.
