Tenya Colemon Jazz Singer from Charlotte, NC

TWO TIME ARTS & SCIENCE COUNCIL - REGIONAL ARTIST PROJECT GRANT RECIPIENT Tenya Colemon is in love with the art of vocal expression, this love can be heard in every note she sings. Beginning her professional music career in Charlotte, NC, Tenya has performed in Mississippi, North and South Carolina, Los Angeles and Pasadena, CA. Colemon leads her own jazz ensemble which performs as a duo, trio or quartet. Tenya has opened for national headliners such as jazz saxophonist Donald Harrison and has graced the stage with acclaimed jazz pianist Cyrus Chestnut. Tenya has become a local and regional favorite, headlining at festivals, art galleries, coffee houses, house concerts, churches and other special events. REVIEWS Tenya performed as one of our opening “prelude” artist on our Summer Pops series last year. Although we had not worked with Ms. Colemon before, her performance was first rate and very polished. Her strong vocals and song selection made for a great opening for our concert.
