I am a professional singer who sings opera, jazz, gospel, R&B, Pop... You name it, I do it. As a college student, I have already been blessed to work with great artist of today such as: Sir Elton John, Billy Joel, Renee Fleming, Kim Burrell, Richard Smallwood and much more. I have performed at venues such as: Madison Sqaure Garden, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The Apollo Theater in Harlem, MoMa, The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC and The New World Center in Miami, FL. Some of my mentors include : Bill T. Jones, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Judith Hill and others.

A native of Brooklyn, Nia Drummond is a Voice Performance major studying with Shinobu Takagi at the State University of New York at Fredonia. She has appeared as a solo performer at the Apollo Theater in New York City and the New World Center in Miami. She also appeared in Renée Fleming's “American Voices,” which aired on PBS, singing gospel, jazz, and classical music.
Ms. Drummond has earned positive reviews in both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, being described as a “moving and electrifying performer.” In addition to her credits as a solo artist, Ms. Drummond has performed with such acclaimed ensembles as the Grammy award-winning Brooklyn Youth Chorus and the award-winning Young People's Chorus of New York City. She has also appeared as a background vocalist for the likes of Sir Elton John, Bette Midler, Fantasia Barrino, John Legend, and in choruses under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, the late Lorin Maazel, James Levine, and others.
Ms. Drummond has performed in competitions and concert series in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Pittsburgh, the Dominican Republic, Switzerland, and Austria. Additionally, she has opera credits including Mother Superior in Hess' “Felice”, title role in Picker's “Therese Raquin,” and Donna Anna in Mozart's "Don Giovanni."
In January of 2015, Ms. Drummond made her debut at Lincoln Center (Alice Tully Hall) in the role of Edith in a condensed version of the Gilbert and Sullivan opera “Pirates of Penzance” with the venerable University Glee Club of New York City.
She has participated in master classes with renowned artists including Renée Fleming, Ruth Falcon, Kim Burrell, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Jake Heggie.
A proud alumnus of the National YoungArts Foundation, Ms. Drummond was one of three winners selected from 10,000 competitors for the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts “Jazz Voice” award in 2012. She was also the recipient of the 2012 Gordon Parks Centennial Scholarship Award presented by the Gordon Parks Foundation.
Nia recently had the honor of performing the National Anthem at the 9/11 Memorial Service in New York City this year. She also had her privilege debut in Cleveland, OH working with the renowned Cleveland Jazz Orchestra and Paul Ferguson in "An Evening with Ella and Ellington." The show was not only performed at the Hanna Theater in Cleveland, but also in King Concert Hall at the State University of New York at Fredonia. One review stated, "The entire program was great, however, Nia was simply captivating. She is going to be big someday."
