Spice is one of the hottest jazz ensembles in the region, with an appeal that has earned them recognition from their listeners and contemporaries alike. The group is led by Jesse Powers, bass player. He is a retired musician and former Director of The Volunteers, a component of the prestigious U.S. Army Field Band, from Washington, D.C. The music of Spice has a sound that is distinct and unique, with musical arrangements that are filled with warmth, originality, excitement and it's all executed with such precision that it would appease even the most critical ear. Whether performing traditional jazz, contemporary, fusion, R&B, original music or whatever (country, rock, ska, pop, etc.) the audience will be thoroughly astounded by the experience and professionalism of these extremely accomplished musicians.
