The Otis Brown Ensemble Jazz Band from Newark, NJ

The Ensemble consists of four of the areas best musicians. Band leader and drummer Otis Brown as a performer has played with the likes of James Brown, Roberta Flack, The Main Ingredient, Rufus Thomas and Roberta Flack, as well as his own jazz band. As an educator he has produced award winning jazz bands. He has arranged music for many producers and artists including famed drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. As a producer he has produced everything from jazz to hip-hop. Keyboard/bassist Daryl Robinson is one of the most sought after performers in the area, he plays on Broadway, arranges and records relentlessly. He knows how to set a groove and hold it. Saxophonist Bill Phipps has the reputation of being the best around. He has excelled as one of the areas best jazz and popular musicians. Vocalist, Lady Mia is sexy, silky, smooth and soulful. She is sought after by most bands in the area but she belongs to The OBE. None of these attributes alone makes a great band; but when they come together in the right mix, you have a high performing group that is always at the top of their game.
