At an early age Juedienne'a musical roots grew by a family deeply rooted in Jazz in New York (Dad played in Count Basie band). She started as a Tenor Saxophone as a teenager with the USO Youth Orchestra. Traveling to military installations all around the world, she played and sang backup for the likes of Lola Falana, Wayne Newton, Andy Williams, Leslie Uggams, Lou Rawls, Michael McDonald just to name a few while on tour. Still in early teens her 1st professional gig was singing backup and playing tambourine on "Bye Bye Miss American Pie" (Don McLean), set the stage for a lifelong career in music. Performing in NYC/NJ at top Jazz clubs and concert venues, Juju has worked with the top musicians and gained their respect and support. Appearing in the 1940 Radio Hour Off Broadway in the 90's, she was recruited and signed with Ray Charles a Pepsi Girl on the "Right Thing tour" and moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Juju was on tour with Ray for over 4 years and ended living in Jacksonville, Florida, teaching performance at the St. Augustine School for the Blind in Florida under Ray.
Performing in D.C. during the President Obama's Inauguration in 2008, Juju returned to perform at the Inauguration in 2012, and started singing at local places, Bohemian Caverns, HR 57 and Utopia just to name a few. Heading back to Atlanta, taking sometime off to take care of family matters in Atlanta; then headed back home to NY where she worked with us at the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium tirelessly. Performing once again throughtout New York and New Jersey in club and concert venues.
She recenty relocated to D.C to resume her music career in February of this year and has been working ever since. Juju not only sings but plays the congas which keeps the beat swinging. She can perform in small combo as the drummer or in a big band.
One thing to be said about Juju, "she is a consummate entertainer and incredible Vocalist/Musician and a beautiful person. She is not just a Jazz Singer but the real deal!"
Respectfully submitted,
Michael Howard, Parlimentarian
