Atenzia Jazz Band - Atenzia Jazz consists of Shawntae on vocals and Brendan on acoustic guitar. Shawntae Atenzia is an up-and-coming vocalist in the Denver music scene. Raised on the music of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, she combines her love of jazz with folk, soul and blues, paying homage to both the masters of the jazz age and an appreciation of modern artists. She currently studies with Donna Wickham, head of the vocal jazz program at DU. Brendan Bondurant is a versatile guitarist and teacher. He consistently brings quality and elegance to audiences and students alike. He has won rave reviews for his premieres of new music, and the Kansas City Star said of his performance of George Crumb's Mundis Canis, "Bondurant…convincingly performed the difficult and humorous work." Preferring collaborative projects to the spotlight, Bondurant performs a diverse array of classical, jazz, folk, rock, and world music. In 2012, he was invited to perform in the UMKC Composer Concerts: Crossroads Series in Kansas City and at New York City's ultra-hip venue le poisson rouge. In 2014 he was awarded a grant from Allied Arts INC to travel to Spain to work with maestro Enrique Vargas. He was awarded the Orville Moore Endowment from Allied Arts in 2015.
