Amirah Jazz Band from Washington, DC

Whether as an acoustic duo or full band at a wedding or corporate event Amirah performs with a fairy-like tone and presence that stimulates, heals and inspires. Inspired by soul music, hip hop and early jazz and R&B legends the likes of Sarah Vaughn, Cassandra Wilson, Sade and Minnie Riperton, Amirah grew up cultivating her silky-smooth vocals by swooning along with her radio. She grew up in the DC Metro area, where she still performs on occasion. For over a decade she has performed at several local venues including Bohemian Caverns, State of the Union, Takoma Station and festivals such as Artscape, and Art-O-Matic, to name a few. Now Amirah is not just a soloist. In fact, she would say "I am nothing without my bandmate." Together, often as a duo, Amirah and her bandmate T-Bone (lead guitar player) deliver an authentic, polished soul sound. For almost a decade, T-Bone has been putting the soul into jazz. He hails from Tokyo, Japan and has played R&B, Jazz and Rock at several local venues such as the Velvet Lounge, Sully's, Jaxx & Takoma Station, just to name a few. After an impromptu jam session at a band audition one evening Amirah knew the two of them were a perfect fit. "I'm truly blessed to work with such a gifted, dedicated musician."
