Richard Brook is from Saskatoon, Canada. He developed an interest in World War II history as a result of listening to stories told by several of his uncles who served in the RCAF, RAF, and the Canadian Army. One of his father's close childhood friends, Louis Slotin from Winnipeg, Manitoba, died working on the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, New Mexico while experimenting with 2 sub critical nuclear cores, a process the scientists called, "tickling the dragon's tail". He moved to Texas in 1984 to work at Texas Instruments in Sherman. In 1991 he moved to Austin where he started a company that made materials for the semiconductor industry. Over the past 30 years, his career took him to Europe and Asia many times each year. Along the way, Richard began visiting the locations in Europe where his family members were involved in various battles and air raids including Dresden, Hamburg and various locations throughout Italy including Monte Cassino and San Pietro. The long flights back and forth to Europe and Asia allowed Richard to read an ever expanding list of books on World War I and World War II History. He has walked nearly every significant battlefield of WW1 and WW2 and has visited hundreds of museums around the world. He has read nearly every biography and autobiography of every significant American, German and Russian General in World War II. He has travelled from Slapton Sands in the UK to Stalingrad in Russia, and from Peenemunde on the Baltic to Sicily on the Mediterranean. In the Pacific, he has visited many locations from Hawaii to Singapore. Richard has visited nearly every American and Canadian War Cemetery in Europe and Asia. Richard has also read every book written by Winston Churchill including his multi-volume history of World War I, World War II, and The English Speaking People. Richard began speaking to groups about what he has learned about the events of 20th Century Military History about four years ago when he retired. One subject on which he has spoken extensively is the origins of the Holocaust. His unique experience in this area comes from his visits to more than thirty-eight extermination camps, concentration camps and sub-camps, several on multiple occasions. Each camp has its own unique history and Richard has spent years learning how they all fit into the Nazi plan that led to the extermination of 6 Million Jews and countless others. Many of the articles and presentations that Richard has made in the past are archived at:
