Alicia is a respected social service worker, body positive activist, blogger, and an eating disorder survivor. As someone who struggled with body image and self-esteem their entire life, Alicia strives to help create a world where stereotypes are shattered and happiness holds a higher value in society than waist-size. Alicia began her journey to self-love occupying the body of a plus size woman. Despite learning to truly love her body and curves she was hit with a very rare medical condition that required her to lose a large amount of weight in order to live a healthy life. Despite the shock of her diagnosis Alicia spent countless hours educating herself of diet, nutrition and exercise, determined to lose the weight in the healthiest way possible. It wasn't until after the weight was gone, and she was deemed healthy that she began struggling with the fear of gaining the weight back. This fear manifested itself into an eating disorder that she continues to recover from daily. Unitilizing this unique experience of living life from the perspectives of someone overweight, underweight and recovering Alicia is able to connect with her audience on a personal level unlike any other. Using humour and personal stories to create an honest and open dialogue she educated and provides an enriching experience for all involved.The main topics Alicia's presentations focus on are self-esteem, body-image, self-love, eating disorder awareness, media literacy, and the importance of self-love.
