What do you get when you take a good-timing front man, classic country tunes, an allstar lineup of local music legends, and a nice shot of bourbon? The answer, friends, is Honkytonk. Slapping a nice sparkly coating of modern grit on some boot-stompin' honky-tonk songs, Honkytonk channels the Grand Ole Opry circa 1957. Just a little more dangerous. At the helm is Rich DeSantis, a firecracker with energy that is downright infectious and a classic country tone that'll prick up your ear. His "right arm" is Johnny McGowan - the hottest lead guitar player in town and one heck of an entertainer himself. Another lick-master you'll find on stage with Honkytonk is pedal steel great, Steve Stone. Rounding out the band are: Dave Roth "the musical encyclopedia" on bass and David James tinkling the ivories. You can catch them live every Wednesday night in Little 5 Points at The Star Bar. See them live and you won't wonder why they are winning hearts and moving feet. You'll be too busy doing the Texas two-step.
