Lani Krantz is one of BC's most versatile harpists with extensive training and experience in a number of different genres and instruments. Born into a family of musicians, she was exposed to a number of instruments and musical styles. Lani has always been actively involved as a flutist and piano accompanist and as a singer in choral and vocal jazz groups. At 8 years old, in the studio of Ms. Taka Kling, she began her harp studies and what would become a life-long love affair with this beautiful instrument.
Lani has completed six years of post-secondary studies in harp performance, studying harp privately with Vancouver Symphony's Principal harpist, Elizabeth Volpe. As part of her orchestral training, Lani studied at the Aspen Music School & Festival and won the position of Principal Harp the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and their Canadian tour in 2001. Other notable studies include; piano lessons with Mr. Leslie Dala, harp lessons with Ms Judy Loman, Ms Rita Costanzi, Ms Kathrine Thomas and Ms Stacey Shames and classes with Mr Sebastian Lipman, Ms Sandrine Chantron and Ms Nancy Allen.

Flute and Harp
Lani first performed with flutist Carol Dymond in 1996 as part of a university chamber ensemble and the two have appeared together for recitals, concerts and events since that time. Most recently, the duo performed the Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto with Sinfonia, Orchestra of the North Shore.
Orchestral Harpist / Accompanist / Soloist
Lani's professional orchestral career began as Principal Harpist with the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra. She is currently Principal Harpist with the Vancouver Island Symphony and an extra with the Victoria Symphony, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the Lionsgate Sinfonia.
Lani also performs with choral, opera and chamber ensembles such as, Opera Appassionata, Pandora's Vox, City Opera Vancouver and the Abendmusik Vesper Choir. Lani has premiered a number of works by Canadian composers, including Timothy Pickett's solo harp works “Printemps” and “Danza d'Estate” (both dedicated to Lani) and Jin Zhang's works for Erhu and Harp.
Lani's solo playing encompasses many musical styles including folk, pop,top 40 and jazz as well as classical, romantic and baroque. Lani works regularly as a freelance entertainer for dinner parties, conventions, receptions, house concerts and weddings.
