Harpist Rachel Van Voorhees Harpist from New Orleans, LA

Rachel Van Voorhees is the consummate music professional. She is the Principal Harpist of the Louisiana Philharmonic, faculty member at Loyola University and Solo Harpist of the Windsor Court Hotel. She studied at The Juilliard School of Music, Purchase College, the Conservatoire in Fontainebleau, France and has her Masters degree from Yale University, where she was awarded the Harriet Gibbs Fox Award for highest scholastic average. Ms. Van Voorhees has been the recipient of numerous awards including fellowships at Tanglewood, Chautauqua, Spoleto, Italy, the Walter Damrosch Fellowship, the Louisiana Artist Fellowship, the Contemporary Arts Center's Sweet Arts Award and ten grants from the Louisiana Arts Funding Program. She has recorded eight CDs, which are available on and her recordings are frequently played on NPR stations around the country. Ms. Van Voorhees is also an accomplished pianist and chamber musician and her repertoire ranges from classical to pop, jazz to celtic, Broadway to religious. You name it and she'll try to accomodate almost all requests. Ms. Van Voorhees has been playing weddings for over 30 years and thoroughly loves helping brides with their musical needs.
