Born to Colombian parents, David Gallego began learning music at age six in Miami, Florida. He attended music academies throughout elementary and middle school, winning numerous competitions and even receiving early accolades from famed producer Emilio Estefan. This encouragement fueled David teenage years as a bassist and singer in a variety of jazz and rock bands in Miami, including the sensational Jazz 5.

After recording his first album with Jazz 5, David volunteered for four years in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he toured extensively with F.O.D., an alternative rock band within the Navy that performed at festivals, hotels, clubs, and other venues in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai, and Singapore. In 2000, David returned to Miami Dade College.
Surrounded by a diverse community of Hispanic and Caribbean musicians, David grew into a well-rounded artist, supporting world-class local and touring musicians on keyboards, guitar, and bass. He shared the stage with artists like Latin Grammy nominee Conjunto Progresso, Argentinean rocker Charlie Garcia, Cuban jazz legend Arturo Sandoval, Nigerian artist King Sunny Ade, gospel singer Yolanda Adams, and the Neville Brothers.

Today, David resides in Houston, Texas, where he performs as part of the Next Level Band and City Nights Band. He has also accompanied Vel Lewis, Sydnee Jane, Jessie's Girls (ATL), gospel singer Shawn McLemore, Conrad Johnson Orchestra, Salsero Angelucho Copacabana and the Gary Michael-Dahl Band on stage. A sought-after session musician, He has collaborated on albums for many artists, such as Southern rocker Chris Gardner and gospel artist Shereka McGrew.
??Off stage, David participated in musical workshop for children in schools for after school programs and summer camps including YAMO and Arts4Learning and co-produced a number of festivals, including the Miami Jazz Festival and Houston Jazz Festival. David's style and approach to the guitar is unique. Due to his experience in a vast array of musical styles and world cultures, He can switch from one genre to the next with chameleon-like ease. David's creativity, technical prowess, improvisational abilities, and professionalism make him a valuable musician both on stage and in the studio.
