Dan Saulpaugh is a singer-songerwriter and jazz guitarist based in New York City. Dan studied Classical Guitar Performance at the Crane School of Music before relocating to New York to continue his studies in Jazz Guitar at City College. His résumé includes performances as a singer-songwriter at The Greene Space's 2015 Battle of the Boroughs, a 2014 summer residency at The Path Cafe, and regular appearances as a bandleader and sideman at downtown music venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, Pianos, and The Bitter End. His EP "Live at Zeb's" was released for streaming in January of 2014.
As a jazz guitarist, Dan has studied with Gilad Heckselman, Ben Monder, Lage Lund, Paul Meyers, Kenny Wessel, and Pete McCann, among others. He has lead ensembles of various sizes, from solo through octet, performing jazz standards and original compositions at clubs, festivals, weddings, and corporate functions throughout upstate New York.
Dan's crédits as a classical guitarist include master classes with 2011 Guitar Foundation of America Competition winner Vladimir Gorbach, and composer Libby Larsen. Dan also toured with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet as a member of the guitar orchestra performing Fujii's "Shiki." Well versed in both the solo and chamber repertoire for the instrument, Dan has played weddings, functions, and recitals, as well as maintaining a studio of private students.
