Sweet, uplifting harmonies, inspiring, compelling lyrics, stirring instrumental genius with rhythm that makes you dance inside and out – The Faith Band has all these, and in rare abundance.
The Faith Band is as diverse in talent, race, and culture as the audiences they attract. Their upbeat and inspirational music spontaneously moves any person within hearing distance. The Faith Band’s expert flair is in converting “old school” R&B songs to melodic Gospel tunes that reach the soul. Taking the scripture Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” singer/songwriter/drummer Tony Key and the late singer/songwriter Kim Gabriel formed The Faith Band in 2005 during a time when the concept of a completely self-contained band was fading away. Kim’s talent, spirit and friendship continue to impact the group as they forge ahead to continue the vision.
The contemporary vocals of Linda Lee, Yolonda Williams and Latrisha Willis, have been favorably compared to groups like The Emotions and En Vogue. Their perfect harmony and pleasantly sophisticated style will send you into a joyful sway. Noted saxophonist, Isaac Valenzuela, and brilliant guitarist, Jeff Holley creates a full sound that shapes the Faith Band. Isaac’s smooth and jazzy saxophone licks reveal the Faith Band’s signature sound. Jeff’s melodious and expressive guitar adds solid rhythm to the mix. The band is certainly not complete without the poetic and spirited sounds of Norman Williams’ keyboards and Rick Rigsby’s soulful bass.
The Faith Band has established themselves across the world as a promising, reputable group, performing in such venues as Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church, The Potter’s House, Grapevine’s “Grapefest” event, The Cleburne Arts Festival and Visions “ The Women’s Expo in Dallas TX. They’re known for drawing the audience in by producing an experience for the listeners as they combine the “old school” R&B sound with lyrics that bless the soul. As they perform, they create a road that connects the audience with the presence of God in the spirit of celebration and thankfulness for the music He created. Individually, members of The Faith Band have shared the stage with artists such as James Ingram, Yarborough & Peoples, Lionel Richie, Fred Hammond, and Jennifer Holiday. The Faith Band’s unique style will certainly take them through many doors and to many hearts as they continue, “bringing the Gospel with an old school R&B sound.
