The Alpine Express has been playing and entertaining crowds with music from the Alps since 1983. A few years ago the band reformed with Brian Ahlbrand on drums and guitar (1980's), Mike White on trumpet (1990's) and Norm Gwaltney playing accordion (all formations).
The band performs polkas, waltzes, and a variety of other music. A feature of their festival performances is the Yodel Contest. Participants are invited to participate matching their skills against others from the audience. Certificates and prizes are awarded to the winners of the contest. An evening with the Alpine Express also features more audience participation, sing-a-longs and much more.
The Alpine Express is Norman Gwaltney (accordion, vocals) Mike White (trumpet, vocals) , and Brian Ahlbrand (drums, guitar, vocals). The band is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.
