I am a 50 y.o. acoustic guitarist/singer/soloist and have played professionally over the last 30 yrs. I studied guitar, piano, and voice at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Peabody Conservatory. I worked my way through college playing folk music and soft rock in bars, restaurants, coffee houses and on college campuses. Early on I realized that I sounded somewhat like James Taylor (JT) and decided to learn all of his famous songs and much of the rest of his work. I have studied extensively all of his recorded studio work and many of his live performances, focusing on his signature guitar playing style and his smooth, silky, baritone vocals. I have sung on stage twice with JT's younger brother Livingston, singing James' part in "City Lights" and the song "Going Around One More Time", a song Livingston wrote that James recorded on his album "That's Why I'm Here". This was quite a thrill! My long term goal is to tour the country doing a James Taylor Tribute show.
For clients that would like to hear songs from other artists of the same genre, I play a wide variety of acoustic music from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, including all the greats like Jimmy Buffett, CSN, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, Loggins & Messina, Billy Joel and many others. I play with enthusiasm and the highest level of professionalism, and I feel that any audience in the mood for "An Evening with James Taylor" and other music from that era will enjoy my performances and likely tell others about it.
Personally, I am a loving and honest man. I have 2 children, ages 10 and 14, and an unbelievable wife who has stuck with me through thick and thin, which is no walk in the park if you know anything about being married to musicians (or pilots, or doctors, or....) I come from a very musical family and I am grateful to my parents for all the music lessons they afforded me. If you are looking for a great acoustic guitarist, singing the folk/soft rock songs of the 60s, 70s, and 80s, or if you are looking for a more intimate tribute show, "An Evening with James Taylor," please request a quote and let's book the date! Thank you for considering me for your event and for taking the time to read my profile.
