Andrew Moffitt is a seasoned acoustic guitarist/singer/soloist who has played professionally for the last 32 years. He studied guitar, piano, and voice at the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Peabody Conservatory, and worked his way through college and medical school playing folk music and 70s soft rock in bars, restaurants, coffee houses, and on college campuses from Baltimore to Miami. His sound and style are unassuming and his challenge and thrill in performing come from seeing just how closely he can reproduce the original artists, both technically and artistically. His voice is a blend of Art Garfunkel, Johnny Mathis, Billy Joel, and James Taylor, and while he plays mostly soft rock hits from the 1970s, Andrew also considers himself a James Taylor Tribute artist. He has spent many years studying James Taylor's music, focusing on his signature guitar playing style and his smooth, silky, baritone vocals. He has also performed on stage twice with JT's younger brother Livingston Taylor, singing James' part in "City Lights" with him.
Andrew has performed two years in a row on the cruise ship CELEBRITY SUMMIT as part of the "70s Rock and Romance Cruise" produced by StarVista Live, a musical opportunity that he calls "the gig of a lifetime". He appeared with some of the biggest names in music including Peter Frampton, Styx, Michael McDonald, Air Supply, B.J. Thomas, Christopher Cross, Stephen Bishop, Little River Band, America, The Guess Who, Poco, Firefall, Ambrosia, Orleans, Player, Atlanta Rhythm Section, War, Badfinger, Chuck Negron formerly of Three Dog Night, The Orchestra starring former members of ELO, and Abbey Road on the River artist Hal Bruce. He considers it the highlight of his musical career to date.
Andrew is a native of South Florida and now lives in Jupiter with his wife and two children. He holds a B.A. degree from the Johns Hopkins University and an M.D. degree from The University of Miami School of Medicine. He also has a busy Internal Medicine geriatric practice in North Palm Beach and his patients can often be seen enjoying his music at local venues when he performs.
