Duamuxa Events Latin Duo from Richmond, CA

Duamuxa is a word of our own making to reflect our love of two muses – Dua (dos) Muxa (musas) – the muse of music and the muse of lyric poetry and a pun on ourselves as the main duet. Ricardo & Marci Valdivieso are the cornerstones of Duamuxa, a musical, creative project that began in 1999, while living in the Midwest. We are at heart singer-songwriters but our creativity has taken us to creating festivals, radio programs, working in theater and teaching workshops for children and adults. We have traveled Latin America and Europe and are back in the Bay Area after a long absence. Our musical offering reflects our travels, with songs from Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Spain and the United States in our repertoire. As experienced musicians we can focus a program on a particular style for example tango, bossa nova or mariachi music depending on your preference and event, we also work with a variety of instrumentalists and so can add flutes, percussion or strings to our core presentation per your specifications. We use high quality professional amplification systems where needed for indoor or outdoor events. A little about the core duo- Ricardo is the music director and producer of Duamuxa's material for performance and workshop purposes. He has performed the main musical pieces and incidental music for theater projects in the United States such as Poeta Pan, a production about the life and times of Pablo Neruda produced by Carlos Baron of San Francisco State University. He was also music director for the Esperanza theater company where he worked with the actors and performed the main musical numbers. Ricardo is also an accomplished sound designer having recorded the music of Rafael Manriquez and Rodrigo Santic among many others. Marci is a songwriter and talented singer, who has recorded with Duamuxa, Rafael Manríquez and performed countless voice-over projects for both business and creative ventures, including Dead in the Sierra/Muerto en la Sierra: Legend of Two Joaquins She studied classical singing at the LaGuardia High School of Music & Performing Arts, New York, participated in workshops at the Harlem School of Music and Julliard School of Music and has been performing from an early age in Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese, Latin and English.
