I'm a well-seasoned acoustic guitar instrumentalist and vocalist with an enormous repertoire. A veteran live performer of 25 years, I've enjoyed playing for weddings, conferences, private parties, art gallery openings, rest homes, churches, campfires, hayrides, flag ceremonies, farmers markets, educational programs from preschool to the university level and much more all around the world.
I'm friendly, easy to work with, and punctuality is a guarantee. A particular strength of mine is adaptability--I'm happy to fine tune my material to fit specific settings and themes according to musical genres (pop, folk, jazz, classical, world, etc.), song requests, eras, holidays (especially Christmas), occasions, and nationalities (I can sing songs in up to twelve languages).
Other things worth letting you know about: I'm a radio host at two stations in the Austin area (KUTX and KOOP) and am therefore quite comfortable with any MC duties I may be called upon to handle for you. I also hold a Ph.D. in American Studies, I'm an active guitar instructor, and I once toured China at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy as a performing lecturer in American folk music. In addition, I've written a book called "Early '70s Radio" and am a veritable pop music encyclopedia.
Ultimately, I'm a passionate advocate for the honest sound of the acoustic guitar, which I feel brings just the right amount of sparkle, good cheer and memorability to any gathering. My rates are very reasonable and I would absolutely love to be a part of your upcoming event!
