Moondance is a party dance band. Since people throw tomatoes if they don’t like the music, we learned rather quickly:
A) how to play and sing really really well, and
B) how to pick songs they’re sure to like (dried tomato is sticky).
Hence we play popular tunes that everyone remembers and loves, lots of 60's, 70's, and 80's hits, and some current hits too. Lots of rhythm-n-blues, Motown, and rock, also some soul and blues.
The founder of our group is James; the oldest and self-proclaimed wisest member of the band. He is our drummer and one of three lead and harmony singers. We call him "sweetness" because he sings like Smokey Robinson and looks like a Native American version of pre-army Elvis.
James was waiting his turn in line to audition for “American Idol” when he heard rich guitar tones emanating from a tall guy three people up the line. James bribed the people ahead of him in line, moved up, met the guitar wonder, and “Moondance” was born.
Yes, that guitar wizard was none other than our very own Bodo who provides the guitar action, lead and harmony vocals, words of wisdom, jokes; he's a true legend in his own mind.
Next came the amazing Mr. Mike. Mike was selling beef jerky at a local swap meet when he heard about a keyboard player needed for a wannabe band, and gave MoonDance a call. Mike’s nimble fingers bring us all of the piano, organ, and synthesizer sounds, as well as snacks (beef jerky anyone?).
And then there’s me....I'm kind of like a superhero....in my cover life, I'm sort of the nerdy-scientist-chick type....but....in a mere hour (OK, so the other superheroes change their look quickly, in this way a lady just differs)....I transform into the cool-band-chick type....miniskirt, go-go boots, and a rhinestone covered guitar strap....dancing whilst playing bass guitars and singing like I mean every word of it....shifting from sultry to audacious like a true poseur....the stuff real shows are made of....rock and rhythm-n-blues all night long.
That’s us....do I need to say more?
