Judge and Jury is a Rock n Roll and R&B Band playing your favorite songs from the 60's through some of todays top hits. Our band is made of of 5 very experienced, professional singers and musicians that have performed for many years in many venues.
Phil Sterling/Guitar/Vocals Lead singer and guitarist for Judge and Jury was born in the Bronx, New York and grew up in Brooklyn. He has been entertaining audiences since the age of 6- singing, playing guitar and acting. He has performed in many venues throughout the country including Shea Stadium and the Bitter End, During the 80's and 90's Phil fronted his own wedding/party bands, Mark III Music and The Phil Sterling Orchestra- playing more than 100 parties each year for over 15 years. In addition, Phil performs as a single acoustic/electric singer/guitarist as well as appearing as emcee at many functions. And, yes, Phil is a professional Santa Claus during the holidays!
Cynthia Schiefer/Vocals/Percussion has always been a singer. From an early age she has embraced all types of music and practiced by learning words and music to marches, hymns, spirituals, folk and popular music, blues, Broadway and classical tunes – whatever she found available at the time. She has matured vocally over the years, having studied voice and worked as a valued member of church and community choirs such as the Mercer County Community Chorus and the New Jersey Chamber Singers and, most recently, the Women of Song of Monmouth County.
Cynthia has also performed as a jazz soloist throughout the tri-state area. She has graced many special events with her soulful renditions whether the occasion called for spirituals, patriotic or love songs. Her favorites include Antonio Carlos Jobim's sexy bossa novas and George Gershwin standards.
Anthony DiTringo/Drums started playing drums on a homemade kit back in his parents Brooklyn basement the day after hearing the first beat from The Beatles. Anthony toured the country playing everything from originals to cover music. The drums have always been a major part of his life. As an integral part of the Judge & Jury lineup, Anthony keeps the house rockin' !
Brian Schiefer/Bass/Vocals played guitar in high school –doing Beatles covers and folk music. While in college he wrote music for various theater productions. He also played bass at various college concerts with a folk duo. He followed this by playing bass with The Dark Ages Blues Band and guitar with a CSN cover trio. He then began playing with a jazz trio that turned into a 7-piece horn show band that traveled the country extensively. In the space of the next seven years he played with groups that toured, backing comedy teams, and playing bass with the late Artie Traum at NYC's Bottom Line and in Woodstock, NY. Then, with Vienna, competed for the title of "best band in NY". Brian loves many styles of music.
Steve Blaine/Keyboards/Guitar/Harmonica/Vocals is a NYC Public Schools Music Teacher of Orchestra & Chorus, began playing guitar at age 9 after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. Later, learned acoustic and electric bass and piano. Played in every type of music ensemble from rock bands to theatre orchestra; backing solo singers and duos, bluegrass bands, symphonic orchestras, etc. He wrote and recorded many original songs, and holds a B.A. Degree in Music Education, and an M.S. Degree in Special Education. Steve appreciates every type of music.
Whatever the event or venue we will bring high energy danceable and recognizable music to your party, dance, etc. If you require a small combo we can be booked as a trio as well.
