JP's All Star Band is an established nine-piece pro-level band covering soul, funk, blues, classic rock, and pop. The line-up features three vocalists, guitar, keyboards, sax, percussion, bass guitar and drums. The band is led by British guitarist Jeff Purchon who has played with some of music's greatest; Robert Palmer, Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix), Ginger Baker, Vernon Reid, Buddy Miles to name but a few. The aim of the band is to play great songs and get people up on their feet and having a great time. JP and Friends have a wide repertoire of songs that they deliver with superb vocals and top-level musicianship providing infectious grooves that will have the crowd dancing the night away and still want more. The band mainly plays private functions these days but is no stranger to prestigious stages such as The Crossroads Festival at Memphis, The Hatch Shell in Boston, The House of Blues etc. The main front man is Michael Payette, a star in his own right who has been compared to Michael McDonald and possesses a voice and range enabling him to cover an impressive range of artists from the sixties right up to date! Mike is the consummate professional musician and knows just about every song ever written. He is also very experienced and comfortable with performing master of ceremony functions and helping run fund raisers. The vocal team includes the amazing Gospel-trained Suzanne Buell from Memphis, a former Stax recording artist and alumni of the Boston Conservatory. Suzanne is a life-long performer and administrative director of Indian Hill Music. Suzanne has performed both solo and ensemble with the Boston Pops Gospel Choir, Memphis Symphony Chorus, Cabrillo College Chorus, Oakland Interfaith Gospel Chorus, Boston Community Choir, NEC Millennium Choir, and others. Suzanne's female vocal partnership is provided by the talents of the award-winning Vicki Zelski, who has sung in many genres from jazz to pop to gospel music. A Berklee College of Music graduate, Vicki has also performed with the Boston Pops Gospel Choir, the Boston Community Choir and the NEC Millennium choir as well as singing the National Anthem at some Red Sox games. Vicki's ensemble won the Harmony Sweepstakes Regional Finals in New York City in 1986. The solid rhythm section is the best in the area. It features New York's Ron Pastore on bass, the amazing and versatile keyboard talents of Mike Valdez (can also cover classical / jazz / quiet background music if needed), the renowned Berklee pro Phil Antionades on drums, Hal Denham on percussion and last but not least, David Sanborn's rival, Brad Kohl on Sax.
