As entertainers, we understand that our goal is to meet the needs of not only our audience, but also the monetary needs of our employer. Alcohol sales etc... Our extensive song list and on stage energy offers a variety according to venue, size and nature of event, and guest requests.
Our Band first formed in Feb 2007 with Nick Necaise on Vocals and playing guitar, Jimmie Vee on vocals and playing saxophone's. Pete Leoni kicking left hand bass and right hand keys also on vocals and Jason Boggs on the drums. Ever since then, we’ve been playing our hearts out regionally and at local venues, working on all hot material and waiting for our big break so we can quit our day jobs.( Well at least those of us whom haven't toured the world) :-)
Saxophone/Vox: Jimmie Vee, had his own band, the "Jimmie Vee Show", was also on tour years with "Frankie and the cruisers". And after many years traveling with Vince Vance & the Valients "Mississippi Sound" is proud to have the greatest living saxophonist in the world. Jimmie simultaneously plays alto and tenor saxes... one upside-down! This may be why he is often referred to as being the best saxophone player ever. Don't blink... You don't want to miss that Kodak moment!
Keys/Harp: Pete Leoni, you name it Pete probably plays it! Newest member of the band replacing Jerry Jaye as Jerry recovers from arthritis troubling his hand. We're very proud to have Pete aboard with Mississippi Sound as he brings a whole new spectrum of music to the table sure to find you Swinging, Rocking with a refreshing New Orleans, Feel Good Music swagger. Pete has become a trend setter for the South East region area with his integration of music and computers.
Steel/Vox: Jerry Jaye, Wow, what's not to say about this fine gentlemen. Jerry's "My Girl Josephine" became a hit single in the US, peaking at #29 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart, and the album LP-"My Girl Josephine" made #195 in the U.S. Jerry left Hi Records in 1970 and began recording new material for Nashville's Mega Records. Jaye's "Honky Tonk Women Love Redneck Men" hit (US Country #32) and "Hot and Still Heatin' (US Country #78). His record sales and hard work on tour around the world landed Jerry a spot in the Rockabilly Hall of Fame. He and his wife Darlene love the coastal Mississippi area so much they decided to move from Manila, Arkansas to live here. O... want more on Jerry? Click link
Drums/percussion: Jason Boggs, a self-taught drummer lends a rhythm that provides the backbone to the music. Deeply rooted in gospel music Jason brought the soulful percussion of his early influences together with that of later effects, going from standards to the swinging feel good sound of coastal Mississippi and New Orleans favorites.
Guitar/Keys/Vox: Nick Necaise, Nick has been a student of entertainment since the age of 13. He may look like a rocker but don’t let that fool you, well actually he is quite the rocker. Traded cowboy boots for converse at the age of 21. He wows the crowd with his over-the-top guitar licks with a slight country twang and a raunchy rock bite. Nick has great on stage showmanship often playing with his teeth or behind his head really working the crowd! Another Must See!!
Manager/Agent: Polly Lambert , has been an artist since childhood. Her hobbies include singing, writing poetry, cooking, and reading. She was born October 30, 1977 in New Orleans LA, and has lived in Pass Christian MS since 1987. Her 97" and 98" years were spent attending Johnson and Wales culinary University, studying to be a Chef/Restaurant and or Hotel manager. But one hot July morning of 1998 turned out to be anything but another southern Mississippi day, as a tragic auto accident found Polly wheelchair bound. Since then has then pursued her many talents and sells some of her personal creations time to time. Polly met Jason (Mississippi Sound drummer) during summer of 2008 at a club known well for their Sunday Jam Session's. This is where she sang George Gershwin's version of "Summertime" and later handed Jason her business card as fate brought Polly and Mississippi Sound together today!
