Britt Spears, founder of Neon Velvet, began playing piano at the early age of eight. He was classically trained but eventually caught the rock and roll bug. He began playing in local bands including, Fatman and the Maniacs and Mimi and the Blues Rockers and Razen Cane to name a few. He has played at venues all over the Mid-South including Rum Boogie Café, BB Kings, Poor Red, The Antenna Club, Neil's, and TJ Mulligans. Some of his musical accomplishments include writing three jingles used on The Dennis and Tony Show, writing the instrumental theme song for The Wheels Show and writing several jingles for local commercials.
Darby Lee Roberts, Lead Vocals, Guitar- Darby has been entertaining Memphians and the Southeastern region of the US since the late 70's. His 1st popular band was Touché'. He has had several different bands including Foolish Pleasure and Monkey Business. He has kick a** vocals and dance moves. He's a party waiting to happen.
Kim Brewer Davis- lead vocalist, guitar- Kim has been entertaining crowds with Neon Velvet. She has a sultry voice, dances and looks great. She can light up any party!! She has been known to pull people onto the dance floor. Speaking of which-that girl can dance as well.
Lyons Pope, lead guitarist, has been honing his craft since the 70's. Lyons brings energy to the stage with passion for music and his exciting performances.
Joe Phelan, bass, guitar- Joe is a lifelong Memphian, has been playing music for over forty years. He played fraternity parties during his college days before joining the Rob Haynes Band, Rob and the Rage. During his time with Rob and the Rage, he sustained steady gigs at the Tunica Casinos and local clubs for eight years. He has played venues across the tri-state area including, Neil's, The Americana, TJ Mulligans, Old Whitten Tavern, JR's Bar and Grille and The Fillin' Station. Joe currently plays bass guitar with Neon Velvet.
Joel Leterneau, a native of Detroit Michigan, began banging around the house with pots and pans when he just a baby. He continued with the delightful racket until his parents broke down and bought him a drum set, a set of blue sparkle Ludwig, when he was ten years old. He has been making music ever since. He was a member of The Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians until he moved to Phoenix, AZ. Once there he played with several local bands including, Pat Roberts and the Heymakers, Liquid Steel and a ten year stint with Kenny Love and the Rockefellers. He most recently moved to Collierville, TN where he began playing with Neon Velvet. He has played many local venues including, Neil's, TJ Mulligans, Old Whitten Tavern, The Haystack, and JR's Bar in Grille.
Neon Velvet has professional sound equipment featuring a modern powered JBL PA system. For additional costs ($150) we can also provide professional lights including lasers.
