I am one of the youngest stage hypnotists in the industry which can be reflected in my high energy shows and my ability to connect with a wide array of audiences. In addition to being a hypnotist, I do corporate talks about personality in a business setting. Although I am fresh out of college, I have a very interesting lens in which I view the world. When I was born, my father started a business by selling sweatshirts at county fairs. That same company is now a multi-million dollar company. I learned many life lessons over the years as I sat passenger seat to my dad driving the bus. At the top of the list was the politics of human interaction which sparked my desire to master it.
I provide a seminar about a personality system called the enneagram. The enneagram is a system that categorizes all people into 9 distinctive personalities. No personality type is better than another and each has particular strengths and weaknesses. More importantly, the categorization indicates a main subconscious fear and desire that directly influence one's behavior.
The information that I present serves two-fold:
1) My immigrant Norwegian grandfather used to tell me, "it is not what you know, it is not who you know, it is what you know about who."
When employees take this test, management can then utilize the results to fit people into positions that correspond with their subconscious needs. It acts a preventative measure to workplace commotion by addressing those needs before employees have a chance to act out, and if they were to "act out," you are aware of how exactly they deal with something in which they are uneasy. This also helps when company changes are implemented, or within meetings between employees and management. If information is relayed, employees are more likely to be on board if the information is being told "in the language of their personality."
2) A pencil can write, but a sharpened pencil can write better. But before one can sharpen their pencil, they must admit to themselves that their pencil is dull.
After learning their personality type, employees gain a sense of pride and motivation with their positive attributes, but also a sense of awareness to downfalls that they may not have previously realized existed. This awareness allows people to see the wall and learn how to climb over it, within a workplace setting, as well as within their personal life. As people address issues in other aspects of their life, the positivity released when those are conquered with the aid of the enneagram is reflected in their performance in the office. Additionally, life becomes a lot more easy and people much more tolerable when it is realized that you have "sins" as does everybody else, and that where one person may lack, another personality type may complement, or vice verse.
The enneagram deals with subconscious fears and desires, and since hypnosis deals directly with the subconscious mind, she will add onto the enneagram by teaching self-hypnosis techniques to induce reflection and change catered specifically to each type. The hypnosis aspect of the seminar also adds an interesting and fun spin not typically seen within a motivational seminar.
