Jeff Foxworthy once defined the American Redneck as someone who has "a glorious absence of sophistication and it can be part time or full time, but most people are guilty of it at least from time to time."

Meet Steve McGranahan, the World's Strongest Redneck. Big (6' tall, 375 lbs), bulky (his arms measure 22" around), and yes, strong (benched RAW 500 for 2; dead lifted 585 for 5; squatted 620 for 2), Steve is redneck to the bone and proud of it. He is also very, very funny as evidenced by his regular appearances on CMT's Country Fried Home Videos, sharing the stage with Larry the Cable Guy on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and amazing the audience on Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge.

He has run five marathons and a 50-mile ultra-marathon, placed 1st in the USA Men's Indoor Masters Shot Put, and could slam dunk a basketball a few pounds ago. Blessed with some of the strongest hands in the world, Steve holds the world record in one-handed card ripping – 11 decks in 28 seconds. He can bend a 60d nail (it's actually a spike, 6 inches long and 1 gauge thick) in half. And he types 8 words per minute.

His super-human strength alone could open the doors of fame and fortune, but there is more to Steve McGranahan than a powerful body, a pretty face, and a riotous sense of humor. The World's Strongest Redneck actually takes his position of role model to hundreds of thousands of people, both young and not so young, seriously.

"I take my strength and ability to make people laugh and encourage them to do more with the gifts that they have," Steve explains. "We all have a unique gift and if we use those gifts to the best of our ability, and use them together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish."

While Steve's amazing strength is readily apparent, his patented brand of redneck humor is as disarming as it is surprising.

"I discovered I was funny when I was in high school," he says with a wink. "I was the class clown, and I became the class clown because I suffer from dyslexia and it helped to mask my inability to learn by traditional methods. I made my teachers laugh so hard they excused my behavior and passed me."

Although the current state of stand-up comedy seems at times to be mean-spirited, hateful, and filled with vulgarity and crudity, Steve is dedicated to performing routines that are not only appropriate for the whole family, but actually makes people feel encouraged, inspired, and challenged.

By mixing side-splitting comedy with jaw-dropping feats of strength, Steve fills a niche that until now has remained completely vacant. "The East Coast has its comedy and the West Coast has its comedy, but nobody is doing motivational strongman comedy for the rest of America," Steve says. "Until now."
