Mr. Jones, while pursuing his Bachelor's Degree in Music Education at Xavier University, toured Europe as a featured soloist with the Xavier Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Helmut Roehrig. While at Xavier University, he was a student of Harriet Beebe and Tom Sherwood. Mr Jones has performed regularly with Musica Sacra Chorus and is an accomplished jazz artist, both as a singer and trombonist. He made his European debut in 1992 in Germany and Czechoslovakia as a featured soloist in concerts with the Bohuslava Matinu Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlin Czechoslovakia and also performed in Colonge, Germany. In 1999, Mr. Jones was invited to sing with the Chicago Symphony Chorus in Shostakovich's "Symphony No. 13 (Babi Yar)" under the baton of Mstislav Rostropovich (a student of Shostakovich). Opera roles have included "Otis Burrows" with Carnegie Opera Theater of Kentuvky, King Balthazar in "Amahl and the Night Visitors" with Xavier Opera Department, a gypsy and citizen in Bizet's "Carmen" with the Cincinnati Opera, and the role of Giuseppe in "La Traviata" with Sorg Opera. Locally Mr. Jones has performed as a bass soloist for Handel's "Messiah" with Bluffton College (Bluffton, OH), the Middletown Civic Chorus, the Lebanon Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, Middletown Symphony Orchestra and Greenhills First Baptist Chorus. In addition, Mr. Jones has performed as bass soloist for a production of Mozart's "Requiem" with Northern Kentucky University. Mr. Jones has also sung with the Cincinnati Baroque group from the University of Cincinnati's music Department. Nick Clooney hosted Xavier in Review from the 1992 - 1993 school year, in which Darrell P. Jones was one of Xavier's four outstanding students for his singing debut in his European tour in Zlin Czechoslovakia
