Tim Richardson, a violist at the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in Macon, GA, is currently studying with Lawrence Dutton (Emerson String Quartet) and Paul Murphy (Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Associate-Principal). Tim has previously studied with Sabina Thatcher (St. Paul Chamber Orchestra Principal). His first orchestral "solo debut" occurred in the summer of 2007, when he was chosen by the Sewanee Summer Music Festival Staff to play the viola solo in Strauss's "Don Quixote", alongside world renowned cellist Andrés Díaz. Since then, Tim has soloed with the Macon Symphony Orchestra, as well as orchestras in the cities of Prague, Vienna, Budapest, and Savannah. In 2009, Tim was awarded the Georgia Music Award, as well as the National School Orchestra Award for his second year.
Tim has participated in the Rome Chamber Music Festival (2011, 2009), Le Domaine Forget International Music Academy, the Franklin Pond Chamber Music Program, the Robert McDuffie Labor Day Festival for Strings, the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, UTK'S 1st and 5th Annual Viola Celebrations, and the Stringendo School for Strings. Through master classes, performances, and private studies, Tim has studied and collaborated with some of the world's leading musicians such as Robert McDuffie, Misha Amory, James Dunham, Antoine Tamestit, Victoria Chiang, Julie Albers, Elizabeth Pridgen, David Halen, Amy Schwartz Moretti, The Nash Ensemble of London, The St. Lawrence String Quartet, The Miro Quartet, The Orion String Quartet, and The Ehnes String Quartet, as well as many others.
