Are you looking for a performance outside the standard fare? I'm a classical and jazz singer in the Boston Northshore area with over fifteen years of performance experience. I would love to make your event an extra special one. My classical solo performance credits are Mendelssohn's Elijah, Vivaldi's Gloria, Bach's St. John's Passion, Rossini's Petite Messe Solonelle, Handel's Messiah, Bach's St. Matthew's Passion, Fauré's Requiem, Villa Lobos's Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 , and Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben. But I'm also happy to sing American standards such as Embraceable You, Unforgettable, Time after Time; musical theater favorites like Somewhere, One Heart One Hand, You'll Never Walk Alone or international classical pop, such as La Vie En Rose, or Al Di La, or a Bossa Nova favorite like Girl from Ipanema (in Portuguese or English!) In the spring of 2010 I was invited to join the ensemble Melopoeia whose members include poets Rhina Espaillat and Alfred Nicol and classical guitarist and composer, John Tavano. We presented several concerts of the poetry and music of Federico Garcia Lorca. I have performed with John Tavano as the duo Bossa Buena in venues throughout the Northshore; performing the work of Antonio Carlos Jobim and Laurindo Almeida. In 2013 I performed a program of classical art song repertoire and songs from the Great American Songbook, “The Art of Song; Songs of the Night and Latin Legends”, with music by Fauré, Hahn, Debussy, Schubert, Lara, Almeida and Lorca. The following year I sang works from Dvorák, Fauré, Hahn, Saint- Saëns , Ponce and Wagner in the concert entitled, “Songs My Mother Taught Me” at the Miller Center in Sandy Spring, Maryland in 2014.That same year, the album, The Subtle Thread, was released which features Ann Harter as vocalist singing the original songs of John Tavano with lyrics by poet, Alfred Nicol. Through 2015-2016 I worked with jazz pianist and accordionist, John Hyde performing, Songs from Other Places, French Chanson, Classic Italian Music, Latin Romance, Brazilian Bossa Nova, & American Jazz, at Newburyport's Café di Sienna. In 2016 I created a performance near and dear to my heart, “Waitin' For The Train To Come In; Songs from WWII” with the piano accompaniment of John Hyde. In the summer of 2016 I was asked to sing the songs of Federico Garcia Lorca for the arrival of the Spanish tall ship, El Galeon, in Newburyport harbor. The following year myself and accordionist David Magliozzi performed French Chanson at the Customs House Museum in Newburyport. Ann has studied voice with Soprano, Dorothea Pliatska, Soprano, Martha Peabody, Tenor, Neal Ferreira, and Soprano, Aliana de La Guardia. She received a BFA from Miami University of Ohio with additional studies at the American University of Beirut, the University of Mexico and the Escola Panamericana de Arte in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
