Angela Carr Classical Singer from Nashville, TN

With a voice that has been described as having a “gorgeous, resonant ring,” Angela Carr has sung in churches and halls throughout the Eastern United States and Japan. She has appeared as a soloist with the Nashville Symphony, New England Light Opera, and The Nashville Choir. In April 2015, she received an award in the Kentucky Bach Choir's Audrey Rooney Vocal Competition. Recently she performed as soprano soloist for Vivaldi's Gloria and Dubois' Les sept paroles du Christ, and will sing the soprano solos in the Belmont Oratorio Chorus's upcoming performance of Bach's Magnificat in April 2016. In 2015, Angela earned a Doctor of Arts degree in Voice Performance from Ball State University and also holds a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Longy School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education and Voice Performance from Eastern Nazarene College. Angela has been active on the stage in opera and musical theater scenes and productions for many years. She has performed as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Carolina in Cimarosa's Il Matrimonio Segreto, and Geraldine in Barber's A Hand of Bridge in opera scene performances. Her musical theater roles include Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, the Wicked Stepmother in Cinderella, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Liesl in The Sound of Music, and Maria in West Side Story. In addition to classical music and musical theater, Angela has been involved in Christian music as a singer, keyboardist, and worship leader, ministering at churches, retreats, and Christian conference centers. She is an active session singer in Nashville, with recent sessions including various Christian choral projects, background music for the new FlyOver America ride at the Mall of America, music for the Brand X Music movie trailer library, and Disneyland's 60th Anniversary float in the Rose Bowl Parade. In 2012, she performed as a back-up singer for the Larnelle Live in Nashville taped concert performance and sang in Jeremy Camp's We Cry Out: The Worship Project album. She has also sung in choirs for well-known Christian artists such as Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Wintley Phipps, and Jars of Clay. In 2009, she was chosen as one of the Top 15 semi-finalists out of 868 entries in the Smithsonian's "O Say Can You Sing?" National Anthem Contest, and in 2007, performed in Boston's Symphony Hall as one of the top sixteen vocalists in the Boston Pops Popsearch. In addition to singing, Angela plays the piano and teaches piano to students of various ages. She began her piano studies at the age of nine and continued taking lessons through college. She currently teaches voice and piano lessons in Nashville and would love to come and sing or play for your special event!
