Friendly and responsive to work with. - Tom Randons, Princeton The Princeton String Quartet and Musicians provides 2-4 players for weddings and receptions, corporate events and parties. We have played many events at Princeton University, for Nobel prize dinners, the Philadelphia Constitution Center and for many happy couples. We charge $800-$900 for a two hour minimum for a trio or quartet. Over two hours, we prorate to the nearest 15 minutes. Music discussions can be by telephone, over tea in a member's home or by email. Our dress is formal: tuxedos for men and all black for women or colored silk tops and black skirts to coordinate with bridesmaids. The music is seamless, and we continue playing until the ceremony starts - even if it is late! We are a lively, innovative group. Our repertoire is classical, but if requested, we add waltzes, rags, tangos and show tunes for the reception. We also play almost any music from a piano score. Besides strings, we can add a trumpet, flute, oboe or piano. If you tell us the desired atmosphere for your ceremony, we can make suggestions - either familiar or less well known. For a serene processional, you might consider Pachelbel's "Canon," the "Air" from Handel's "Water Music," or Bach's "Arioso." For a triumphal entry you might choose the Purcell/Clarke "Trumpet Voluntary (great for strings only,) Wagner's "Bridal Chorus," or the first or third movement from Bach's "Concerto for Two Violins." You could also change the tempos between the bridesmaids and the bride. The recessional might be Beethoven's "Ode to Joy," Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," or "La Rejouissance" from Handel's "Royal Fireworks Music," starting off a marriage with joy and fireworks! We often follow with Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto #3" or a special song selected by the couple. For the reception, if requested, we add waltzes, rags, tangos or show tunes. We play for the rewarding joy of music and are happy to add a note of grace to every occasion.
