Andrea Blanchfield Harpist from Raleigh, NC

Andrea Blanchfield is an award-winning harpist, who can cater to your special music requests, such as: Sam smith, Lana Del Ray, Adele, The Beatles, Glass Animals, Rascall Flatts, Coldplay, Josh Groban, Notorious B.IG., etc. there are endless possibilities. She provides free amplification during her performances, and two harp models for selection. She performs for weddings, receptions, corporate events, bridal and baby showers, church services, funerals, etc. Andrea Blanchfield is a 2010 graduate of Furman University, Greenville, SC, where she received the Furman University Strings Scholarship and earned a Bachelor's degree in Music under the tutelage of Anita Burroughs-Price, principal harpist for the North Carolina Symphony. Andrea has been playing the harp for over 19 years and has been performing professionally for 16 years. Andrea teaches private harp lessons, and directs the Capital harp ensemble in Raleigh, NC. Andrea is a member of the Community Music School's faculty, where she has founded the harp program that helps connect underprivileged children with passion for music with the harp. Andrea has been an active member of the Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Orchestra for three years. The SMBC Orchestra performs once a month for the church's worship service, plus during religious or national holidays. She has been the principal harpist for the Furman University Symphonic Orchestra, Furman University Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. She has also been a member of the Furman University Harp Ensemble. Prior to her collegiate training Andrea was the principal harpist for the Triangle Youth Philharmonic (TYP) and Triangle Youth Symphony (TYS) for four years. Andrea's experience playing Liturgical music began in the Daniel Chapel located on Furman's campus, where she performed for worship services, as well as, for the annual Lessons & Carols concert. She has participated in the "Celebration of the Arts" program in McAlister Auditorium as the Fine Arts Representative. Andrea loves to volunteer and help out the community; through offering her talents to the Lifepointe Church Worship band volunteer staff on a regular monthly basis, and by volunteering at local nursing homes and retirement facilities and charity fundraisers. Andrea also teaches her own private studio with students of all ages and levels of playing. Andrea is willing to teach beginner to advanced level harpists in the Grandjaney or Salzedo technique, on pedal or lever harp. She also has experience working with students who have auditory processing issues, or those found on the Autistic spectrum. Her students and families of these students are full of praise and love for Andrea and her ability to cater to everyone's needs, passions and abilities; and continue to build lasting relationships between growing youth and music appreciation.
