Hailing from Rapid City, South Dakota, Miriam Iams is a lover of the arts-believing they are the commonality which weaves a very diverse humanity together. Trained in singing, acting, and violin performance, these areas are where Miriam feels most alive. In her undergraduate degree at the University of Wyoming, Miriam was on scholarship for vocal performance and violin performance and has been classically trained in opera, jazz, pop, and musical theater. Iams toured as a singer/actress/dancer and the violinist with the Centennial Singers (a touring Broadway show review through the University of Wyoming). Favorite roles in this CA/AZ/NE/WY/SD/MT/UT tour included playing The Narrator in Joseph and Kate Monster in Avenue Q. Iams also toured with UW's program Opera in a Gym, and performed and soloed in Vocal Jazz, Collegiate Chorale, and studied private voice lessons with Dr. Larry Hensel from 2002-2007. In 2009, Iams was the winner of the Colorado State University Idol singing competition. Theatrically, Iams most recently played Maureen in Rent in 2010. Violin experience includes playing in the first violin section with the University of Wyoming Symphony Orchestra, second violin section of the University of Wyoming Chamber Orchestra and Nutcracker, and working as a violin instructor for Haggerty's Musicworks out of Rapid City, SD from 2010-2012. Previously in bands, Miriam served as lead singer and violinist for The 79 Band, a rock band (Rapid City, SD, 2010-2012), fiddler for Jolly Llamas, a bluegrass band (Rapid City, SD, 2009-2010), and Rocktonium out of Fort Collins, CO. Currently, Miriam is the lead singer/violinist of the rock band Colorado Rose, the lead singer/violinist for the celtic band Boudica Rising, and the violinist for the female string duo Adagio Symphonic-all out of Colorado where Miriam recently graduated with her Master's in Student Affairs in Higher Education
