What music is featured during a wedding ceremony??
The most basic wedding ceremony music involves the prelude, processional and recessional. add interludes or songs played duringsignificant moments such as the unity candle lighting. ?
Prelude Music: Prelude music sets the mood while guests are being seated and waiting for the ceremony to begin. It usually begins when the doors open, as early as 45 minutes prior to, but no later than 20 minutes before the beginning of the ceremony.
The Processional: The Processional accompanies the entry of the family, wedding party, and bride or groom. The same song can be used for each, but many couples like to change to another song when the bride or groom enters to add drama to an entrance.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, The Recessional plays. As the name implies, this music accompanies you as you recess (that is, make your exit) and is traditionally bright and lively -- joyful.
About Sylvie Harris (Classical Guitar)
Born in Quebec, Canada, Sylvie Harris studied guitar at the Hartt School of Music (Hartford) and the New England Conservatory of Music (Boston) where she received a Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance. Sylvie performs regularly throughout New England in a variety of chamber music settings. Pror to the Rosewood Duo, Sylvie was the founder and classical guitarist for the Celtic ensemble, Celticity. Sylvie has also played guitar with the Providence Mandolin Orchestra, one of America's leading Mandolin and Guitar Ensembles and with the Happy Valley Guitar Orchestra. Sylvie plays a diverse repertoire of classical, renaissance, celtic, and acoustic guitar music . She is also an arranger and songwriter. Sylvie has performed in chamber music and concert venues throughout New England.
About Theresa Illich (Flutist)
Originally from Southern New Hamphire, Theresa Illich is a New England based flutist and teacher. Theresa is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts with a Bachelor's degree in Flute Performance and Music Education where she studied with Christopher Kruger. Theresa has also studied with Peggy Vagts of the University of New Hampshire and has worked with renown teachers such as Judith Mendenhall, Alexa Still, Bonita Boyd, Conor Nelson, and Jonathan Keeble in lessons and masterclasses. Currently, Theresa plays in various orchestras and ensembles in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. As a soloist and chamber musician she has given recitals, programming works from the standard repertoire as well as new music and innovative transcriptions. At the University of Massachusetts, she performed Jacob T.V.'s The Garden of Love for flute and electronics, Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf for woodwind quintet, and Debussy's Six Epigraphes Antiques for flute, saxophone, and piano. In addition she has done chamber work with guitar, cello, and in flute choirs.
