A sought-after soloist, recitalist and pedagogue, Bermúdez studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, the prestigious Amadeo Roldán Conservatory of Music in her native Havana,and the Instituto Superior de Arte de La Habana, graduating in Cello Performance.
Aclaimed for her virtuoso technique, Bermúdez has played as a soloist with several symphonic orchestras, and has appeared in solo and chamber recitals in Cuba, Russia, Spain, England, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico, and in the United States. She has played at Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, the Rachmaninoff and Tchaikovsky Halls in Moscow, Teatro Esteban Salas in Santiago de Cuba, Teatro Nacional and Teatro Garcia Lorca in Havana, Teatro Teresa Carreno and Sala Jose Felix Rivas in Caracas, and at the Americas Society, Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, Merkin Concert Hall and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
In addition to several world premieres and recordings of contemporary music, Ana Ruth Bermúdez has worked for television, theater, radio and cinema in Cuba, Spain, Venezuela, and the United States. She is currently teaching and performing in the Philadelphia and New York metropolitan areas.
