Second Chance Band is a Tribute to the 60's, 70, and 80's and plays Rock, Blues, Funk and R&B in an electric or acoustic format with an emphasis on the greatest decades of music. SC is comprised of 5 seasoned musicians from New York to California and several stops along the way. Band members have opened for national acts and performed internationally. Some of their past projects include live TV appearance, movie soundtracks, session recordings and have performed for sold out festivals, arenas and auditoriums. Second Chance is a must see experience and guaranteed to get them and keep them on the dance floor all night long, as tight rhythms and soulful vocal melodies flow from every corner of the stage. Lars Ohl- Lead Guitar
Has opened for legends such as Tom Petty, James Taylor, and Judas Priest. Has recorded an album with AM Records called, "Folly's Pool", and has eight years of Mandolin playing with a traditional Irish Band. Has played with Van Morrison and Morrison's daughter, Shana Morrison. He has played since he was 12 and was in his first band at the age of 14. He has a deep affection for music and has written and produced music throughout his music life.
Manny Perez- Bass/Vocals
Is a no-nonsense, well rounded, straight ahead bass player with great stage presence. Manny comes from the S F Bay Area with many years of experience beginning with one of the bay areas best cover bands "Friends" for over 25 years playing everything from Abba to ZZ Top and after that with the "Scotty Moore Blues Band" for 10+ years. To say he is stable is an understatement, which is his style of playing: rock solid, laying down the bottom and being in the pocket.
John Newby - Drums
A talented drummer is the backbone of any good band. John Newby's love of drumming began with drum lessons at age ten. John has played in various Northern California classic rock and blues bands over the years displaying a skill for accurate meter, a steady groove, and tasty fills. John's focus is on the overall sound of the band with a concentration on perfect timing and being in the pocket without being a distraction. John strives to keep dancers happy and confident on the dance floor with a solid back beat and rhythm.
Larry Dee - Keys and Vocals
Larry Dee is a self-taught passionate lover of music originally from Washington, DC. He has performed in the NY to Miami tour as well as playing at the Shoram Hotel in the 60's for the Senate/Congress Christmas party. He contributes vocals to the band's repertoire f songs and gives every song a lively and sweet sound that makes the crowds happy. He enjoy's people. Has played the keys for decades and has a deep affection for bringing enjoyment to those listening to the tunes he plays. Larry has played in several cover bands trough his life with experience in Classic, Rock, R&B, Funk, and all arming types of popular music. Larry has played with the Belmonts, The Supremes, and The Temptations.
Mitch Young - Percussion
Mitch had two uncles (The Key Brothers) who played at local dances and clubs in and around the Bay area and Sacramento during the late 50's & 60's . They left California for Nashville and cut some records, and are in the "Rock-a-Billy Hall of Fame". Their influence inspired Mitch to join the school music program in the 3rd grade. He went on to play percussion in elementary, high school and college. After his enlistment in the US Army was completed, he joined The Windfall Band as a drummer for this country rock and western swing band. He also began to play harmonica (which he picked up in the Army). He has played percussion/harmonica/vocals with local bands in the Sacramento area, including the Rhythm Vandals, Lightning Hand, Keep on Truckin', and finally Second Chance.
