Richard, an award-winning singer based in Boulder, Colorado, is blessed with a golden voice and an ear for harmony. An avid song collector and historian, Richard brings his knowledge of the historical setting of the songs he sings in English and Irish. His pure tenor voice and excellent guitar accompaniment lend themselves to the sometimes merry, sometimes somber songs he sings and has earned him performances with several renowned artists, including Mexican singer Pedro Vargas, Tom Clancy of the Clancy Brothers, as well as sean-nos singer Lillis O Laoire and West Coast singers Christa Burch (Syncopaths), George Cavanaugh (the Browne Sisters), Jimmy Keigher (Men of Worth), Ken O'Malley (Twilight Lords) and the late (and great) Krysia Kocjian-Haber of Al Stewart and Natural String Band fame.
As a guitarist, Richard has, among others, accompanied fiddlers Cait Reed, Kevin Crehan, Vincent Griffen and Kathleen Keane; flute/whistle players Paddy O'Neill, Frank Simpson, Dave Migoya, Hammy Hamilton and Paulette Gershen; mandolin player Marla Fibish; west coast banjo player Seamus Egan; and pipers Paddy Keenan, Eric Rigler and Patrick D'Arcy. He counts among his Celtic guitar influences: Paul Brady, Micheal O Dohmnaill, Arty McGlynn, John Doyle, Donogh Hennessy, Gerry O'Beirne and Barry Fisher.
He has led singing workshops at folk gatherings such as the "Lark in the Morning Camp" as well as children's workshops, and has performed for such notables as the Lord Mayor of Wexford, the Mayor of New York, the Lieutenant Governor of California and two Presidents of Ireland. Richard's guitar and voice can be heard in the movie "Patriot Games" as well as several CD's.
Richard is available as a solo act, but can add excellent local musicians to enhance your Celtic/Irish/Scottish themed event.
