Brittany Dagro is a former Adjunct Cello Faculty member at NYU. She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Cello Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and her Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from New York University – The Steinhardt School, where she studied with her mentor, Marion Feldman. She also has an Advanced Certificate in Music Education from Queens College. Additional studies were with David Geber and Eileen Moon.
Ms. Dagro has been and continues to be an avid orchestral and chamber musician. She currently plays with the Litha Symphony Orchestra as their Associate Principal Cellist and is a substitute with United Nations Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble 212, and the Metro Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Dagro has also played with various professional ensembles such as The Knights and Astoria Symphony. Brittany made her solo debut at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as a winner of the ATML Young Musicians Concert Competition in May 2013. She is the former Principal Cellist of the New York Youth Symphony, under Ryan McAdams during the 2009-2010 season at Carnegie Hall. She has also held Principal positions in the Long Island Youth Symphony and the Long Island Gemini Orchestra. Ms. Dagro has played at Carnegie Hall thirteen times in her past seventeen years of experience, along with other prestigious venues such as Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, and Merkin Hall. She was principal cellist of the NYU String Orchestra that performed with the iconic band, The Eagles, at NYU Steinhardt's First Annual Gala in November 2013.
Brittany spent a month in Siena, Italy attending the Siena Music Festival as Associate Principal Cellist, where she played the works of Wagner, Massenet, Verdi, Bach-Stokowski, Respighi, Mozart, Ravel, Brahms, and Beethoven.
In February 2014, she was interviewed for the Jack Price Radio Show, where she spoke about practice techniques, being an orchestral cellist, and her work as a cellist. Brittany has participated in numerous master classes with cellists such as Yo-Yo Ma, Steven Doane, and David Teie.
She currently is freelancing and maintains a private cello studio on Long Island and New York City.
