SketchfacesDC is a team of seasoned artists in the Washington DC metro area. Laura Schoppa and Mark "Gootz" Gutierrez have been drawing professionally for over 20 years. SketchfacesDC's traditional caricature "victims" sit for about 5-7 minutes each (they can handle 2 people in one drawing), while Laura or Mark whips up a cartoon version of that person with black marker on 11x17 paper with a splash of color. Guests often gather around while gags are introduced in the drawing. SketchfacesDC's digital caricatures offer a unique form of entertainment: Caricature "victims" are drawn on a Microsoft Surface tablet. The live drawing is projected onto a 32" TV screen (they can also project onto a client's own larger screen, if desired), and the finished product is 4x6 color print with a plastic sleeve or badge holder on a lanyard which can be worn around the neck. Each caricature may include a logo, date or any other information that commemorates the event. Mark and Laura traverse the Washington DC beltway to gigs regularly, but may also travel to locations further out like Baltimore, Maryland and Charlottesville, Virginia.
