Hi. I've been a professional caricaturist for 30 years.
I draw on 12-by-18" paper with marker and graphite. I offer three styles at live events: full face with a body in action, full face only, and profile (or side view). The first option takes about five minutes per person so you can expect about 12 drawings per hour; the second style takes about three minutes per person or 20 drawings per hour, and the third option about two minutes per person or 30 per hour. I also provide a plastic bag to each subject to protect their drawing---not a big benefit, but many people seem to appreciate it.
I like to talk while drawing so I usually engage the subject in conversation. It seems to put the subject at ease and provides me with insight into their character. In addition to illustration, I'm a freelance writer, handyman and banjo player. I am also a former teacher, commercial fisherman, gravedigger and journalist so I can converse on a variety of topics.
In case you're interested I have three daughters, five chickens, three cats and a Ugandan boarder. All are female.
I aspire to be a full-time author. I have several published works including a series called "Drawing From History." Currently I'm working on a dystopian novel for nerdy girls.
My handyman speciality is older homes so even if we can't connect on a caricature gig, you might contact me if you need a toilet installed.
If I allowed myself to brag I'd tell about playing college basketball, two state awards for political cartooning, a national Big Brothers award, and presidencies of our local art guild and historic preservation commission.
I still have over 3,000 characters left to use on my profile so . . . .
I'm single and available. My favorite color is green. I have four siblings. I took flying lessons but never got my pilot's license. I've been to Alaska half a dozen times. I cook regularly, specializing in Cincinnati-style chili and turkey gumbo. For a dozen years I gave school programs dressed as one of my cartoon characters, "The Recyclone, Superhero of the Recycling Movement." One of the three cats mentioned earlier has outworn her welcome and is available for adoption. I enjoy watching squirrels outside my studio window. I use Apple computers but they're so old I can no longer update the software. My daughters and I used to take Lincoln-themed vacations: we've been to southern Indiana, Springfield, IL, and Gettysburg. My auto insurance is through State Farm. I've never been to New York City.
I still have 2,483 character left, but I'm done talking about myself. If you want more information, just ask.
Ciao.
