Gene was absolutely wonderful. It was "unbearably hot" but Gene kept his cool. He was gracious and accomodating to the whole family. It was a huge success and a lot of fun for all. We hired Gene as a surprise for our daughter's Sweet 16 Birthday party. We chose him because his drawings are accurate and flattering, and his cost was also reasonable. Gene really knew his audience, and the girls warmed up to him right away. He spent time with each girl, making each one feel special, and they loved their portraits! He did not exaggerate the girls' features, which would be a huge no-no for teenage girls. The girls cheered each time he completed a picture! Now they have a nice keepsake memory of their time at our daughter's party. Thanks to Gene, we were the "cool parents" for an evening. We would highly recommend Gene Mater!

Gene Mater was extremely accommodating and entertaining. He came for our 11 year olds birthday party. We were doing a French theme and he was very authentic. He spent 2.5 hours doing portraits. The portraits were well done and a nice memento. I would highly recommend him for any function.

Gene not only has a great ability to capture a kind and subject-friendly caricature, he is an engaging conversationalist and a genuinely interesting person to speak with. While crafting his portraits, he engages the subject(s) posing in conversationa and makes the experience all the more enjoyable. Truly an awesome contributor to our special event, which was a 60th birthday party for a person with a number of friends representing a broad range of interests. If you want someone to bring extraordinary art skills and an engaing personality to your event, seriously consider seeking Gene's participation.

Gene Mater is extremely talented as an artist and I would recommend him to others for party events. My only negative issue was with the woman he brought , who did no portraits , was there to watch him and was inappropriate by taking food off of 3 peoples table to eat without asking , Very embarrassing , Leave her home next time .

We were so please to have Gene Mater at our sons baptism. He was very professional and went above and beyond our expectations. I will definitley have Gene at another event of ours in the future. Everyone at the party loved the idea of a characaturist. This is the second time I have used gig masters for an event and I have been 100% please every time.

Gene was very personable with the guests ( which may have slowed down the number of drawings he was able to complete). Everyone loved their drawings. Next time I will have to extend his hours so that more people can have their caricature drawn.
