Bex & the Bullpen Bluegrass Band from Port Alberni, BC

Old time music to feed the soul. We play upbeat fiddle tunes that get the party started! Whether you want acoustic background tunes, a stage performance, or a full-on square dance, we've got you covered. Stringband music is enjoyed by young and old alike. We love to play at weddings, barbecues, holiday gatherings, office parties, birthdays, long-table dinners, street festivals, harvest festivals, big dance halls, you name it! If you want a participatory musical experience that gets everyone moving — we highly recommend our Square Dance package. Square Dancing is a great way to break the ice, get some exercise, and put a smile on everyone's face in no time! If you have bad memories of square dancing as a schoolkid, don't worry… The way we do our square dances is super fun for everybody. (especially after a few drinks…) We teach simple dances on-the-spot. You don't need to bring a partner, you don't need special shoes, and you don't even need to have any experience or skill with dancing! This kind of dancing is GREAT for kids, people who don't speak English, and people who are total newbies to dancing. (Though, if you've got experienced dancers, we can surely entertain them as well.) We also play waltzes and polkas (and can teach those dances if you like). Check out our videos to see how much fun it is! We're currently new to gigmasters, but we have lots of experience and good references from past gigs. We are often touring and we travel pretty far, in the States as well. If we can't make it to your location, we'll do our best to hook you up with a local band in the region. Our band members live all over BC and in Washington. Bex & the Bullpen features a rotating collective of musicians. So you might see different faces at different gigs, but they always put on a top-notch show. The size of the band can range from 1 to 6 people, depending on your budget and needs.
